Hand-crafted fine furniture by Amanda Morrice

Commissioning

Commissioning a piece of bespoke furniture can be a daunting prospect. Part of my role is to facilitate the process allowing you to experience the excitement and anticipation of commissioning your own unique piece of furniture.

The Process

Regardless of how firm your design idea is, it may be useful for me to do a home visit. Sometimes seeing where the piece will go, and in particular the lighting and environment, can be helpful to guide the choice of materials and finishes. A home visit can also help to match your new piece to your other furniture, your tastes and your own personal style.

The Design

A rough outline of your requirements will be verbally agreed and I will produce detailed sketches. These will be made available for your consideration, and followed by further discussions and final amendments if necessary. Once all major decisions have been made, a quotation will be provided. There will be a charge for the design process but this will be refunded as a deduction from the final payment for the commissioned piece.

The Agreement

Once an agreement on design, price and materials has been reached, a deposit of 50% will be required to cover costs and materials. Designing is often a fluid process and some details can only be decided in the workshop. Some minor alterations to design may be required but any major changes will always require your approval.
